Meet the dedicated Board of Directors behind Kyle Radio — passionate community members committed to bringing local voices and music to our community!

President

Dr. Lauralee Harris

Dr. Lauralee Harris is a dedicated public servant and nonprofit leader with over 35 years of experience in health and human services. She currently serves as a Kyle City Council Member and on the Kyle Parks and Recreation Board, following seven years.

Her passion for community radio began with Wimberley Valley Radio, partnering on multiple station projects. When the opportunity arose to help launch Kyle Radio, she embraced the challenge, drawing on her nonprofit and public service expertise.

Lauralee holds a Master of Public Administration and a Doctor of Public Health, has taught Public Administration and Criminal Justice at Angelo State University, and is a Texas Master Naturalist.

Her nonprofit leadership includes founding a domestic violence shelter, establishing community living residences for individuals with developmental disabilities, serving as Executive Director of the Mental Health Association of Tarrant County (where she helped create a Mental Health Court, police training, and law enforcement response teams), and directing institutional funding for the American Cancer Society. Lauralee has also served on the boards of five statewide advocacy organizations.

Tarence Hines

Tarence Hines is a dedicated professional with a passion for community engagement and communication, and has recently joined the Texas Workforce Solutions.

 

As the former Membership Representative for the Kyle Area Chamber of Commerce, he played a key role in fostering connections and supporting local businesses. His involvement with the radio station project began through conversations with Dr. Lauralee Harris, sparking a new opportunity to contribute to Kyle’s growing media landscape.

 

A proud United States Navy veteran, Tarence brings over a decade of experience in mass communication, using his skills to amplify voices, share stories, and build meaningful relationships. His commitment to service —both in and out of uniform — drives his dedication to uplifting the community.

 

Honored to serve on the Board of Directors, Tarence is excited to be part of a project that celebrates and strengthens the Kyle community. His enthusiasm, experience, and dedication make him a valuable asset in bringing people together through the power of communication.

Secretary

Debbie Cerda

With over 30 years of experience in nonprofit leadership and community relations, Debbie Cerda is dedicated to strengthening local programming and public engagement.

 

Her background in radio includes key roles at KVRX 91.7 FM in Austin and KANM 99.9 FM in College Station, where she helped shape station operations, programming, and compliance.

Beyond broadcasting, she has served in leadership positions for numerous nonprofits, including the Pink Boots Societyand Texas Environmental Education Partnership. Her expertise in board governance, volunteer management, and strategic planning has driven impactful initiatives across sectors.

Debbie also has extensive experience in media relations, fundraising, and public outreach, having contributed to film festivals and community-driven events.

 

Her work bridges nonprofit advocacy and media, ensuring that organizations stay mission-focused while expanding their reach.

Director

Robert Rizo

Robert Rizo is an accomplished public servant and community leader with over 30 years of volunteer experience. During his tenure as a member of the Kyle City Council, Robert focused on infrastructure development, community growth, and local policy initiatives.

In addition to his work in city government, Robert is deeply committed to community service. He serves as a Board Member for the Hays County Food Bank, playing a key role in combating food insecurity, and as a Board Member of the Hays County Historical Commission, where he helps preserve and promote the region’s rich cultural heritage.

With a strong foundation in music and event production, Robert is certified in soundboard operations by Ford Audio. He has over 10 years of experience as a band member and DJ, leveraging his passion for music and technical expertise to enhance local community events.

Treasurer

Richard Bruce

As a dedicated 10-year resident of Kyle, Richard Bruce is deeply excited about the potential of local radio to foster stronger connections within his community. He believes in the power of media to amplify voices, bring people together, and create meaningful dialogue among neighbors.

 

With over 25 years of financial experience in higher education, Richard has worked to empower diverse communities, ensuring that all voices are heard and valued. Throughout his career, he has managed national grant funds, advocated for inclusive representation, and steered the implementation of high-impact projects that have shaped educational and community landscapes.

 

Richard also holds a Master of Public Administration, which has further solidified his commitment to public service, community advocacy, and strategic resource management. His experience and passion for community development make him a valuable asset in both his professional and local endeavors.

Director

Mischelle Diaz

Mischelle R. Diaz is Director of Communications at Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) where she leads a group of talented content creators and conservation educators who work to protect the natural and cultural resources of the state by sharing compelling stories about the wild things and wild places of Texas.

Through a wide range of media products and marketing efforts, Mischelle and her team drive audiences to the agency’s revenue producing products including hunting and fishing licenses, state park visitation and other special programs and events.

 

Prior to joining TPWD, Mischelle was the director of communications at St. Edward’s University for 15 years where she served as the University’s official spokesperson and led all internal communication efforts.

 

Mischelle’s prior experience also includes her position as director of communications at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, director of public affairs for Del Webb’s Sun City Georgetown, bilingual spokesperson for Gov. George W. Bush, and television news producer at KWTX TV in Waco.

 

Mischelle earned her Bachelor of Science in Journalism from the University of North Texas, and a master’s degree in Leadership and Change from St. Edward’s University.
